Data sources

Base data was seeded from the KANJIDIC2 project (license), but was then heavily complemented with modifications on the meanings and sparse on-yomi and kun-yomi fixes.

The morphological graph (e.g. 時 = 日 ⿰ 寺) was handcrafted, with the two major sources of information being Wiktionary (license) and BabelStone (file). The main objective pursued was minimizing the number of foreign radicals while always using the largest segments available (e.g. 時 = 日 ⿰ 寺, instead of 日 ⿰ 土 ⿱ 寸).

Fonts are based on Google’s Noto (license) complemented with very rare characters from BabelStone Han (license), subset so that the total size is manageable.

Lastly, the ordering of the Kanji/Radicals is the result of this thesis.
